Mobile Coverage

The Telstra 4G & 5G network is available in Julia Creek, and a Telstra Tower is in McKinlay, servicing a 20km radius of the town. Mobile reception is available close to townships of Kynuna and Nelia, but is limited. Service availability may also fluctuate for different brands of mobile phones and your location within the Shire.

Please note – Telstra Wholesale Mobile Network Providers (i.e. ALDI Mobile, Belong, Boost Mobile, Woolworths Everyday Mobile) do not have reliable service within the McKinlay Shire. Be mindful of your provider when planning your trip. If in doubt, Telstra $2 SIM Cards can be purchased locally to ensure your network coverage.
